Modders Restore Cut Witcher 3 Menu for Replaying Story Recaps Anytime

CD Projekt Red built a system into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt where Dandelion narrates brief story recaps — triggered when loading a save or fast-travelling to a new map section mid-playthrough. What was less known is that the studio also designed a dedicated menu for replaying these recaps at any time, similar to the existing character biography screen. That menu was cut before release.

Modders have now restored it.

What changed

• A previously cut in-game menu has been recovered and made functional by modders
• The menu allows players to watch any of the Dandelion-narrated story recaps on demand
• It mirrors the accessibility of the existing character biography feature, which lets players look up key figures and their history with Geralt

The timing carries some weight. A Witcher 3 expansion called Songs of the Past is reported to be arriving next year, and the restored recap menu offers a practical way to refresh one's memory on the main story without committing to another full playthrough.

For players who have let the game sit for years, this recovered feature closes a gap that arguably should never have been cut in the first place.
