PEAK's Final Major Update Adds Two New Biomes and a Hidden Mystery

The developers behind PEAK have published what they describe as the game's final Major Update, titled The Final Ascent. Authored by Botten Hanna and released on 11 August 2026, the patch carries version number 2.0.a.

What changed

New biomes:

• GLOOM and THE CITADEL have been added, randomly replacing CALDERA and THE KILN on some maps.
• For the first two weeks following release, maps will exclusively feature GLOOM and THE CITADEL; after that, all four biomes enter the random daily-map rotation.

Ascent progression:

• Ascent 8 has been added. Its details are being withheld to avoid spoilers.
• Ascent 7 has been reworked. The previous rule — "You cannot revive the dead" — has been replaced with "Start cursed and take more curse from revival," allowing players to continue a run after deaths rather than being locked out entirely.

• 10 new Badges and accompanying cosmetics are available to unlock. The developers note this is the last planned addition to the badge set.
• A new Clown Luggage type has been introduced; opening one yields a random selection of unusual items. The Lollipop, Cannon, and Balloon Bunch now spawn exclusively from Clown Luggage rather than Climber Luggage.
• Mysterious statues have appeared across the island, tied to an unexplained narrative thread involving the Scoutmaster's original lost troop.
• Auto-saves will no longer be deleted when loaded mid-run; deletion now occurs only when a run ends.
• Bug fixes and updated mechanics are included, though specifics are not detailed in the announcement.
