Ploink's 'Death to Mary' Update Overhauls Drops, Trinkets, and a Notorious Boss

Published 8 September 2026, the "Death to Mary" update for ploink arrives from developer Pyrocreep with changes that touch nearly every layer of the game — from moment-to-moment drop mechanics to long-term achievement targets.

What changed

Drop-phase interactions are broadly expanded:

• Rerolling is now permitted during drops
• Pegs can be repositioned in the shop during drops (purchasing remains locked)
• Pegs placeable anywhere can now be bought mid-drop
• Those same freely-placed pegs lose collision when disabled by any means

Trinket system reformed:

• The "5 Minute Timer" trinket and its associated achievement have been removed
• The new "Infinite Ruler" trinket (with its own achievement) removes all trinket restrictions, allowing every trinket to be used simultaneously; some combinations carry special interactions
• Six new achievements have been added — two tied to higher score modifiers, four to deeper endless-mode progression

Notable item adjustments:

• Boss Double no longer destroys all balls on the first drop
• Boss Mary no longer deducts score when destroying balls — the update's namesake change
• Snow Ball no longer shrinks over time; it now shrinks on hit and launches with an increased base size
• Shuriken and Portal both received price reductions; Portal's secret ability was reworked to one veterans may recognise from an earlier iteration
• Kudzu pegs can now be replaced
• C4's secret ability was changed

Bug fixes of note: Shuriken was found to have been non-functional entirely; Golden Peg incorrectly triggered on every save/load cycle; several edge-case exploits around unmovable pegs and boss loading have been closed.

For players who found Mary's score penalties punishing or trinket stacking unnecessarily restrictive, this patch meaningfully lowers both friction points.
