SAND: Raiders of Sophie Update #6 Restores Trampler Capture and Reworks Matchmaking
The return of a core mechanic, alongside meaningful changes to queues, maneuverability, and stun penalties, makes this a substantive mid-season patch.

Trampler capture — apparently disabled in a prior update — is the headlining restoration in Update #6 for SAND: Raiders of Sophie, published August 3, 2026 by tinyBuild-Jay.
What changed
Trampler capture
- Trampler capture has been reactivated
- The Ownership device will no longer be destroyed when the Captain's compartment is destroyed, meaning tramplers can be captured even under that condition
Matchmaking
- A new "Duo only" queue has been added
- Small Crews are now defined as teams of 3 and 4; Large Crews as teams of 5 and 6
Maneuverability and energy rod
- The energy rod's boost scales with trampler maneuverability; it holds at 100% down to 30% maneuverability, then declines steadily to 50% at 0%
- Using engines to compensate for low maneuverability reduces stun duration and negates the rod boost penalty
Leg Stun Mechanic
- Tramplers with low maneuverability now receive a stun penalty when a leg breaks
- Stun duration scales with maneuverability loss: 0 seconds at 30% or above, up to 5 seconds at 0%
- Max speed is capped at 20% during stun
Bug fixes
- Large extraction icon now appears on zone entry rather than while inside
- Interaction animations no longer end prematurely
- Fixed trampler bouncing after destruction
- Fixed large items appearing on characters in Spectator mode
Anticheat
- Additional improvements made, including fixes for some false positives; further refinements are ongoing
For players who found trampler engagements diminished without the capture mechanic, Update #6 restores the strategic depth that apparently defined encounters before its removal.
