TF2 Community Rallies Around Lunar-Themed Item Project, Operation Mooncrash
A community-organized effort is soliciting cosmetics, maps, weapons, and more under a unified Moon Base theme — with formal contests running alongside the broader collection.
The TF2 Painter's Workshop has announced Operation Mooncrash, a community project built around a Moon Base theme for Team Fortress 2. The effort is open-ended by design: organizers are accepting a wide range of contributed work for consideration in a final community collection.
What's being accepted
- Cosmetics
- War paints
- Maps
- Weapons
- Weapon unusuals
- Map assets
Alongside the general collection, two dedicated contests are running with structured categories:
War Paint Contest — covers Standard and Limited Skins, UV, and Dragon Slayer war paints.
Map Asset Contest — spans posters, world textures, gameplay assets, environment assets, and detail props.
Each contest offers five subcategories, each with five initial prize placements. Notably, submitting to a contest does not disqualify a creator from also contributing the same work to the broader community collection — the two tracks run in parallel.
Participation is coordinated through the TF2 Painter's Workshop Discord server.
For creators with work that fits a sci-fi or lunar aesthetic, this represents a rare organized opportunity to contribute across multiple item categories at once.
