TF2 Community Launches Operation Mooncrash, a Moon Base Creation Drive
The TF2 Painter's Workshop has announced Operation Mooncrash, a community-run project built around reviving and expanding Team Fortress 2's Moon Base theme. The initiative is open to a wide range of contributors and content types.
What's being solicited
The project is accepting submissions across multiple categories:
- Cosmetics
- War paints (Standard and Limited Skins/UV/Dragon Slayer varieties)
- Maps
- Weapons and weapon unusuals
- Map assets — including posters, world textures, gameplay assets, environment assets, and detail props
Alongside the general collection, the Workshop is running two formal contests: one for war paints and one for map assets. Each contest is structured into five subcategories, with five initial prize placements per subcategory. Creators who reach the maximum number of contest entries may still submit additional work to the broader community collection.
The project is coordinated through the TF2 Painter's Workshop Discord server, which serves as the hub for participation.
For players, the practical upshot is a potential wave of Moon Base-themed content — cosmetics, maps, and more — moving toward inclusion in a future community collection, provided the submissions clear whatever curation process follows.
