The Week on Steam: Seasons Open, Silence Deepens
A week defined by live-service pivots and quiet arrivals, while some games drift further into absence.
Of the 2,244 games we track, 209 had something to say this week — producing 461 announcements and 108 substantial updates. The rhythm was uneven: the loudest voices belonged to live-service titles turning over their seasonal machinery, while a handful of smaller games shipped genuinely considered changes. Beneath it all, three titles extended silences that have grown difficult to explain.
The Season Turns
ZeroSpace opened Galactic War Season 1 with the arrival of the Xol faction — new units, a new commander, and UI revisions folded into what the developers are calling a major update. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance followed with its Season 4 calendar, "Lightchase Oath," laying out the events ahead. Battlefield 6 marked one year of operation by looking further forward still, sketching what comes in Season 5 and into 2027. Three live-service games, three different postures toward time: one launching, one calendaring, one retrospecting.
Patches With Purpose
Last Epoch's 1.5.1 addressed edge-case skill interactions, including a fix for Dreamslash placing players inside a boss hitbox — the kind of correction that matters most to the people it happens to. MINERALS: Deep Core Mining introduced Ascension, a full prestige loop that resets progress in exchange for compounding power — a structural addition rather than a content drop. Apex Legends adjusted a new legend's slide mechanics and disabled aim assist under a specific ability, calibrating the competitive landscape with the precision these updates require. Limbus Company shipped two updates in close succession: a bug fix for a character dying against a specific boss, followed by a scheduled memory optimization for Chapter 10.
Small Games, Careful Work
Shake it Co! posted twice — fishing arrived as a promised feature, followed by co-op improvements and a redesigned fight HUD. GONE Fishing announced its 1.0 release date of October 20th while shipping the ability to skip the intro cutscene and adjusting legendary fish thresholds. Dev Life: Tap & Code added four languages, bringing its total to 27 — a localization effort that reflects either a committed community or a developer playing a long game. Tormentum II released Chinese localization built from a fan translation, crediting the original fan by name.
The Long Quiet
Three games we track have not posted in stretches that warrant notice. Oh Deer has been silent for 803 days. Conqueror's Blade, 669 days. Warhaven, 914 days. These are not hiatuses — they are the particular silence that follows when a game's active life has ended but its Steam page remains. The numbers simply accumulate.
Codename CURE II has announced a major update and DLC expansion arriving October 27th.
