Throne and Liberty 4.12.0 Raises Item Level Cap and Adds Nix Field Bosses
The update pushes the gear ceiling from 80 to 90 and introduces two new encounter types to the Nix region, with meaningful caveats for pre-patch equipment.
Throne and Liberty's update 4.12.0 arrived on September 16 following a maintenance window that began at 10:30 p.m. PT and ran approximately 4.5 hours. The headline change is a straightforward but significant one: the maximum equipment Item Level climbs from 80 to 90.
What changed
- Two new Field Bosses — Grimturg and Exodus — added to Tumgir Hollow in the Nix region at Level 60. Both appear on the same battlefield at different times and support Peace, War, and Guild encounter modes, as well as dedicated Guild Contracts.
- Three new armor sets with 15 new armor pieces and 20 new accessories added to the loot pool:
- Verdigris Covenant — oriented around block chance, skill damage resistance, and melee heavy attacks.
- Ancient Resolve — built around critical hits, with a 2-piece effect that restores 3% of damage dealt as Health on a critical strike.
- Azure Sanctuary — scales with Max Mana, offering heavy attack bonuses and a mana-regen toggle mechanic that shifts between regeneration and skill damage depending on current Mana levels.
- Item Level cap raised from 80 to 90 for all equipment, including newly added pieces. Growth rates from Item Levels 51 to 80 have also been significantly increased.
- Nix and Snowsoul Archboss Weapons have their Fixed Item Level raised to 93.
- Legacy equipment caveat: gear obtained from reward chests before 4.12.0, and equipment purified from pre-update Redfrost Items, remains capped at Item Level 80.
The last point is the one to watch — players sitting on pre-patch reward chests or Redfrost Items will need to factor in that ceiling before deciding when to open or convert them.
