Valheim Patch 1.0.14 Addresses Keybindings, GPU Performance, and a Cheater-Flag Bug

Iron Gate's IronMontilyet published Patch 1.0.14 for Valheim on September 17, 2026, describing it as touching "a little bit of everything." Platform rollout will take a few days, though crossplay remains functional throughout.

• Several new keybinding options added: alternate dodge key, hotbar rebinding beyond slots 1–8, radial wheel rebinding, and the ability to remove keybinds entirely
• A toggle-blocking accessibility setting has been added
• A gameplay option to skip the intro cinematic on startup is now available
• When "attack towards look direction" is enabled, the player's rotation now snaps toward the intended attack direction during attacks, not only when the option is disabled
• Gamepad: Motion Sensor and Sheath keybinds have been swapped back, restoring Sheath to its original binding; Motion Sensor now uses alt-key + Sheath

Optimizations

• GPU overhead reduced when tessellation is disabled
• Heightmap shadows recalculated with greater accuracy at lower performance cost
• Main menu particle systems optimized to reduce overdraw
• Multiple GPU performance improvements on Switch 2

Bug Fixes

• PlayerBase effect on some build pieces strengthened to better block enemies
• Stick input pre-processing corrected — diagonal movement was 30% too slow and biased toward axis-aligned directions
• Jotun puffs and Magecaps no longer respawn
• Fixed a bug that incorrectly flagged legitimate players as temporary cheaters, causing monster-dropped items to be marked as cheated in origin
• Cheated stackable items no longer merge with regular items

The cheater-flag fix in particular has direct inventory consequences — players who lost clean loot to that misclassification should see more reliable item behavior going forward.
