War Thunder's Advance Mode Returns with a Higher BR Bracket
Following positive feedback from its first test, the asymmetric Advance mode is back — this time spanning Battle Ratings 9.7 to 10.7.
War Thunder's experimental Advance mode is running again from July 31st at 11:00 GMT through August 3rd at 11:00 GMT, accessible via the Events and Tournaments tab. The developers cite positive reception from the previous test and, specifically, player requests for a higher Battle Rating range as the reasons for this second outing.
What changed
- BR bracket raised to ground vehicles rated 9.7–10.7
- Nation matchups adjusted to improve balance
- Maps remain Port Novorossiysk, Maginot Line, and Volokolamsk
The mode's core structure carries over from the first test: attackers and defenders contest five sequentially activated points (A through E) in Realistic Battles. Key points (A, C, E) are small and slow to capture; intermediate points (B, D) are larger, faster to take, and disable the defenders' previous spawn zone while opening a new one for attackers. Victory goes to attackers who seize the final key point or eliminate all defenders; defenders win by holding out or eliminating every attacking player.
Spawning ground vehicles requires no Spawn Points, though aircraft still do. Repeated spawns are available without a backup vehicle, and each team operates with a different player cap and spawn limit.
For players who found the first test's BR ceiling too low, this iteration offers a meaningful jump into higher-tier hardware on the same three maps.
