War Thunder's monthly decal event returns for July, offering two markings drawn from distinct corners of aviation history — one American, one German — each unlocked through specific in-game tasks.
What changed
- Event window: July 9th (11:00 GMT) to August 10th (09:00 GMT)
- Eligible vehicles: Rank III or higher
- "Downs' Clowns" Emblem (USA): Unlocked by dealing 10 tons of base damage using US Bombers. The original marking appeared on B-29 44-86284 of the 325th Bomb Squadron, 92nd Bombardment Group, based at Yokota, Japan during the Korean War. The aircraft was written off after sustaining heavy MiG-15 damage on a 1951 raid.
- I./ZG 26 Emblem "Ringelpitz" (Germany): Unlocked by defeating 50 players using German Aircraft. The emblem — a "Ring o' Roses" design — belonged to the 1st Group of Zerstörergeschwader 26, one of the Luftwaffe's first units equipped with the Bf 110 heavy fighter. It was designed around 1940 and inspired by the unit's engagements with the RAF.
Blitzkrieg Wulf also notes that a short community survey is attached to the announcement, inviting feedback on the monthly decal format and player preferences.
For players who engage with cosmetic progression, these two tasks offer a straightforward path to historically documented markings from opposite sides of two separate conflicts.
