Zombie Queen 1.4 Adds a Between-Wave Survival Layer to Its Combat Loop
A new Survival Mode turns the pause between zombie waves into a resource management phase with real stakes.
Major Update 1.4 introduces Survival Mode, a discrete phase that activates after each wave and upgrade cycle concludes. During this phase, combat stops entirely — the player manages the shelter rather than shooting.
What changed
- Survival Mode replaces idle downtime between waves with an active management loop
- Scavenging (V key) searches the city for food, medicine, supplies, and scrap, but raises the Danger meter
- Danger is a pressure resource: if it reaches 100, zombies attack the shelter and combat begins automatically
- Building (B key) spends scrap to improve Shelter level and increase Shelter HP
- Repairing (R key) spends scrap to restore barricade defenses
- Resting (H key) consumes food and medicine to heal and clear temporary debuffs
- Crafting (C key) converts 2 scrap into 3 supplies, which activate a Supply Kit at the start of the next wave
- Starting the next wave (N key) is a deliberate player choice — unless Danger forces the issue
- Scavenge locations include city streets, hospitals, and pharmacies, each yielding different resource types
- Crafting does not produce ammo; the combat game retains unlimited ammo
The addition reframes Zombie Queen's structure: waves are no longer isolated bursts of shooting but the back half of a cycle whose front half demands planning, risk tolerance, and resource trade-offs.
