Skyrim Anniversary Edition Update 1.7.99 Raises Console Mod Storage and Overhauls Creations Tools
Bethesda's Update 1.7.99 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition arrives with a slate of Creations platform changes, console storage increases, and Creation Kit improvements — plus a pair of hotfixes pushed on August 27.
What changed
Storage and platform
- Mod storage increased to 15 GB on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
- PlayStation 4 receives an expanded ceiling of approximately 16 GB, though Bethesda notes that download size may not match installed size due to PS4 hardware storage partitions, and users may encounter practical limits when installing large Creations simultaneously.
- A regional install bug incorrectly showing 14 of 15 GB used on PlayStation has been resolved.
Creations storefront and menus
- Storefront UI now supports box art at 3640 × 900 and 900 × 506, matching Starfield and Fallout 4; older image sizes remain supported.
- Creations can now be sorted by "Most Popular".
- Bundling of Creations in the Skyrim Creations Menu added, bringing it to parity with Fallout and Starfield.
- A Creation's Details page now includes instructions for reporting abusive or problematic mods.
- Creations flagged as WIP can be viewed when bookmarked.
- Localized string fixes applied to UI and platform terminology.
Creation Kit
- Localization export support added.
- "Search and Replace" updated with "Select Form in Object Window" and "Open Form Editor" buttons, aligning with Starfield.
- Multiple master loads now permitted by default, with normal configuration options retained.
Hotfix crashes (August 27)
- Fixed a crash when opening the on-screen keyboard and submitting text on the main menu on PlayStation.
- Fixed a crash when opening the map multiple times on Xbox.
For modders and console players alike, the expanded storage ceiling and Creation Kit alignment with Bethesda's newer titles represent a meaningful, if quiet, infrastructure upgrade.
