Big Walk

House house has released version 1.6.0 of Big Walk, a patch that spans networking reliability, exploit fixes, accessibility improvements, and a small handful of cosmetic corrections.

What changed

Networking & multiplayer

  • Join Codes now use both letters and numbers.
  • Multiple rare networking issues that could prevent connections have been fixed.
  • Networking-related error and warning messages have been improved.
  • A modded client can no longer perform certain actions that could disrupt other players on the server.
  • Kicking a player now clears any text they have written since the session started.

New settings

  • First Person Arm Movement (all platforms).
  • Echo Cancellation (Windows and Mac).

Challenge integrity

  • Fixed a case where a challenge could be skipped via the lost and found combined with a server restart.
  • Fixed a badly positioned collider on a challenge-skipping button panel.
  • Fixed a case where a light in one challenge failed to turn on when a door closed.

Stability & saves

  • Fixed a Windows crash tied to Windows Smart App Control.
  • On Windows and Mac, a corrupted save will now fall back to the backup save in more cases.
  • Fixed a potential shader error related to lights with dynamic brightness and range.

World & UI polish

  • Stars in the night sky are now oriented more accurately to the real southern hemisphere sky.
  • Two landmarks had incorrect map colors; both are corrected.
  • Unrecognized gamepads now display fallback button prompt glyphs.
  • Fixed several geometry holes where a player could get stuck.

Taken together, the update should make multiplayer sessions more stable and challenge runs harder to game unintentionally.
