Hakoniwa Base Ball Ver 1.14 Overhauls Draft with NPB-Style Bidding Lottery
A sweeping draft redesign and a new substitution screen arrive together, alongside the quietly shipped Ver 1.13 changes.
Version 1.14 of Hakoniwa Base Ball is live, built around a ground-up rework of how clubs select prospects — and it quietly folds in everything from Ver 1.13, which launched without an announcement and brought year-by-year farm stats and bug fixes.
What changed
Draft overhaul
- First-round picks now use an NPB-style bidding lottery: all clubs announce their pick simultaneously, and any overlap triggers a lottery, with losers bidding again.
- A full-screen lottery show recreates draft-day tension — club announcements, competing bids revealed, envelopes opened one by one. Advance manually or skip entirely. Presentation depth is configurable (Full / Lottery Only / Results Only) and can be adjusted in Display Settings.
- AI clubs now stop drafting once their roster needs are met, mirroring real-draft behaviour; clubs still rebuilding continue selecting.
- The main draft and developmental draft are now separate systems. Main picks are constrained by the 70-man roster limit; developmental contracts carry no pick limit, and scouted hidden gems are eligible as developmental selections.
- AI clubs actively release underperforming veterans before the draft to clear roster space, and those cut players enter the free-agent market.
Substitution screen
- Pitching changes, pinch hitters, pinch runners, and defensive substitutions are now handled on a single comparison screen.
- The candidate list displays each player's photo, throwing/batting hand, condition, and key ratings; selecting a candidate shows a side-by-side before/after comparison.
Taken together, the update adds both mechanical depth and presentation flair to the draft, while streamlining one of the most frequently used in-game decisions.
