Unrailed 2 Stability Patch Targets GPU Crashes and Lobby Error Clarity
A dependency update and automatic Vulkan routing for newer AMD cards aim to reduce crashes that were originating outside the game's own code.
Indoor Astronaut has released a stability-focused update for Unrailed 2: Back on Track, version v-936-dc2dc1c, centered on two upgraded dependencies — Godot and ANGLE — which the developer describes as "very important" to the game's foundation. The studio notes that most observed crashes were occurring in drivers or Godot code rather than in their own logic, and the update attempts to address what can be reached from their side.
What changed
- AMD GPU routing: Modern AMD Radeon cards (RX 5000 and newer) are now automatically directed to Vulkan, which the developer says runs smoother. Previously, auto-selection was not steering these cards to Vulkan by default.
- Graphics crash fixes: Several crashes tied to out-of-video-memory conditions and driver resets have been addressed.
- Lobby error detail: When joining a lobby fails — due to timeout, version mismatch, or crossplay settings — the error messages are now more specific. These messages also remain on screen longer.
- macOS controller prompt: When Steam Input is detected on macOS without the required Accessibility permission granted to Steam, the game now shows an in-game explanation of what to do.
- Crossplay networking: Experimental China networking has been reactivated. Gameplay version 129 is now the default even when crossplay is enabled, following console patches going live.
For players who were experiencing unexplained crashes — particularly on newer AMD hardware — the automatic Vulkan switch is the most direct practical change this patch delivers.
