The team behind VEIN has shipped multiple hotfixes over the past two weeks while continuing parallel work on new features for version 0.025. The update post, authored by disseminate, walks through two of those hotfixes in detail.
What changed
Hotfix 2 covered a broad sweep of fixes:
- Newly built containers now correctly mark as empty
- Windows no longer close when holding the button to open them (e.g., searching other players)
- Floating use icon visibility corrected by contributor 8Z
- The Lifebringer perk has been restored to working order; immortal plants caused by the perk now display correctly in multiplayer
- Fluid dispensers (sinks, etc.) connected to barrels received stability fixes
- Nail-to-screw conversion is now properly 1:1; iron drop chances when dismantling screws have been reduced
- Encumbrance edge cases resolved: admin-menu ammo grants ignore encumbrance, cloning a key while encumbered drops it rather than deleting the iron, and reloading while overencumbered drops the magazine instead of losing it
- Wrong placeholders when moving objects have been corrected, along with equipped item indicator UI issues
- Dropped and thrown items now auto-delete after one hour — except when dropped inside a base or utility cabinet area
The post also notes that VEIN is discounted 20% during the Steam Summer Sale, running until July 9th.
For players who have encountered items silently vanishing on an encumbered character, these fixes close several long-standing inventory sinkholes.
