Blitzkrieg Wulf's latest Work-In-Progress post outlines several decal-focused changes heading toward War Thunder's next major update — no release window given beyond that vague milestone.
What changed
- Decal filtering: Players will be able to filter decals and decorations to display only items they currently own, simplifying the vehicle customization process. The feature was requested in a previous decal post.
- Roundel rework: A number of older roundel decals — some predating the game's public release — are being updated to reduce heavy scratching and weathering effects. The revised roundels are targeted for the next major update, though the post notes they may arrive later.
- New roundels: Roundels for air forces currently unrepresented in the game, including Venezuela and Uruguay, are in progress. Modern variants of existing roundels are also being added — India and the Irish Air Corps, which previously carried only their WW2-era versions, are cited as examples. These additions are similarly aimed at the next major update if time permits.
- New decals for smaller nations: Each update the team is working to add decals for nations that currently have none, with the post framing this as an ongoing commitment to historical iconography.
All new roundels in development were sourced from community forum requests.
For players who spend time in the vehicle customization menus, the ownership filter alone should meaningfully reduce friction — and the roundel refresh removes some visually dated artwork that has persisted since before the game launched.
