Albion Online's Dragonfire Patch 2 Overhauls Loot and Ancient Lands Rules

Sandbox Interactive's second patch for Albion Online's Dragonfire update, published 23 September 2026, delivers significant loot rebalancing across multiple content areas alongside structural changes to the Ancient Lands.

What changed

Loot adjustments

• Medium Ancient Lands: non-Drake chest loot increased by roughly 50%
• Large Ancient Lands: base chest loot increased by roughly 140%
• Dragon Sanctuary: Drake Egg drop chance in the final chest increased by roughly 400%; base chest loot up 100% on average
• Outlands Dragon Attacks: base chest loot approximately doubled; Fame now paid out via the Might system rather than non-tradable Tomes of Insight, ensuring all participants receive Fame rather than only the player who opens the chest
• New Dragon item drop chances (Dragon Armor, etc.) are unchanged

Ancient Lands: Item Freeze

• Orange-zone Ancient Lands now apply an Item Freeze on entry: items already in a player's inventory are not dropped on death, though anything picked up inside remains at risk

Additional Ancient Lands changes

• Island chests (excluding the center island) now require completing the island quest to unlock, closing a shortcut that allowed players to claim rewards without engaging the Fire Drake summon
• Giants' aggro range reduced from 11m to 8m
• Spirit Weaver's Drowsy Essence sleep duration reduced from 4s to 2s
• A new Bleedout revival animation has been added

Season 33 winners are also recognised with new statues in Conqueror's Hall.

Taken together, the patch addresses underperforming reward loops while giving cautious players a meaningful protection against losing carried gear — a balance shift that changes the risk calculus for anyone farming the Ancient Lands.
