War Thunder Discounts G.91 R/4 to Mark 70 Years Since First Flight
A limited-time promotion ties an in-game sale to the real anniversary of Italy's first mass-produced jet fighter.
The G.91 made its maiden flight on August 9th, 1956 — seventy years ago this week. To mark the occasion, Gaijin has placed the German and Italian variants of the G.91 R/4 premium vehicle on sale inside War Thunder.
What changed
- Both the German and Italian G.91 R/4 are available at 50% off: 4,455 Golden Eagles each, down from the regular price of 8,910 GE
- The sale runs August 7th (09:00 GMT) through August 10th (09:00 GMT)
- Vehicles are found under Germany / Italy → Aviation → Premium vehicles
- After the promotion ends, both aircraft return to their standard price
About the aircraft
The G.91 R/4 is described as a maneuverable fighter suited to both dogfighting and ground support, capable of carrying rockets, air-to-ground missiles, bombs, and incendiary tanks. Compared to the R/3 variant, the R/4 trades heavier forward-firing armament for four machine guns and gains access to AA-20 Nord and AIM-9B Sidewinder air-to-air missiles.
Historically, the G.91 served with the Italian Air Force, the West German Luftwaffe, and the Portuguese Air Force, remaining operational from 1961 to 1995.
For players considering either nation's aviation tree, the three-day window offers a meaningful reduction on a premium aircraft with a documented dual-role loadout.
