War Thunder Refines Aiming Point Controls After Major Update Friction
A series of quiet fixes to the new aiming point system removes key-binding conflicts and makes the feature accessible without spare keys.

The 116th entry in Gaijin's rolling "It's Fixed" series addresses friction introduced alongside a recent major update that added aiming points — a mechanic for directing GNSS-guided weapons and supporting navigation tasks.
What changed
- On-screen hints added to the tactical map, showing which key combinations control aiming points. These hints appear only on aircraft capable of using the feature — those equipped with GNSS-guided weapons or a sufficiently advanced navigation system.
- Bug fix: aiming points previously required GNSS munitions to be physically mounted. The mechanic now functions regardless of current loadout, since aiming points serve navigation and other weapon types as well.
- Default key bindings for aiming point control have been removed after they created conflicts with certain free-look actions.
- Munitions can now be assigned to aiming points entirely through the tactical map, without requiring dedicated key bindings. A right-click on a point opens a menu; left and right mouse buttons select munitions, with counters displaying current and maximum availability. A hint explaining this now appears alongside the map.
The changes collectively lower the barrier to a complex new system — players who lacked spare keys to bind, or who encountered the loadout-gating bug, can now engage with aiming points as intended.
