Escape Simulator 2 VR Preview Arrives via Open Beta Branch
Pine Studio has opened early VR access for Escape Simulator 2, inviting player feedback ahead of a planned free VR update before year's end.
The VR Preview for Escape Simulator 2 is now accessible through the open_beta branch on Steam, marking the first public look at VR support the team describes as having been in development for some time.
What changed
- The VR Preview is live on the
open_betabranch (version v21790 or newer) - All official rooms are stated to be fully playable in VR
- A wide range of VR options — covering movement, comfort, and interaction — are available in the Settings menu
- Several Room Editor fixes are included in this beta update
- Community-made rooms are not currently supported and may be completely broken in VR
- Visible player hands and character models are among the features still missing
- Minor issues with object rotations and very small items may be present
To opt in, right-click the game in your Steam Library, open Properties → Betas, and select open_beta. Returning to the standard build is possible at any time by selecting None in that same menu.
The developers are specifically seeking feedback on controls, movement comfort, object grabbing, puzzle usability, performance, and object behaviour. This preview feeds directly into the full VR update, which the announcement describes as currently planned for release by the end of this year — and which will be free.
