Iron Nest Patch #8 Adds 'Guarding the Strait' and Fixes Medal Progress
The turret simulator's eighth patch marks the start of a planned Skirmish expansion phase, alongside a sweep of bug fixes that includes broken medal requirements.
The latest update to IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator — version 1.0 (1705), published under the banner of Patch #8 — introduces a new free Skirmish mission and resolves a collection of bugs that had lingered since launch.
What changed
New content
- Guarding the Strait — a Skirmish mission set in the Strait of Gibraltar, centred on identifying and engaging hostile vessels before they pass through.
Bug fixes
- Entering certain missions incorrectly reset requisition credits
- Newspaper titles and subtitles displayed wrong text after Skirmish missions
- Clicking the campaign map mid-mission failed to quit the mission
- Shells fired before an emergency move incorrectly triggered the counter battery timer
- A rare spawn error in "Rock of Gibraltar" could place the player slightly inland
- Multiple medal requirements were set too high, with some gold-rank thresholds impossible to reach
- Incendiary fires and PH's shots in mission 13 no longer affect the player's accuracy stat or count as friendly fire for medal purposes
What comes next
Developer Nick has shifted focus from post-launch fixes toward a roadmap phase described as Additional Skirmish Modes. "Guarding the Strait" is the first release under that phase; the next Skirmish mission is planned to arrive by the end of October 2026.
For players chasing medal completions, the corrections to gold-rank requirements may be the most immediately meaningful change here.
